I thought it would be fun to select 3 coins from my collection and ask my fellow members, what do they have in common? How are they different? Do these 3 coins have any major significance or are they 3 obscure coins that looked cool together?

The first two coins have to do with the Byzantines loosing the True Cross and Jerusalem in battle to the Sassanian in the early 7th century. And later winning back Jerusalem under Heraclius. Auxsum which was a Christian kingdom also did battle with the Sassanians in the middle 6th century.

If echizento is right, I think so too!

(I was going to say that they all appear on a black background, but I guess that was not what you were looking for eh?)

Byzantine / Sasanid / Axum (same time period)

and , I already scanned the same Axumite coin earlier, just waiting for the other comp to finish updating windows so that I can transfer. Wanted to make a thread about Axumite coinage.

Yes, such a nice piece and the oldest bi-metallic I have.
