During 1644 to 1776 Sweden issued Plate Money, ie large copper slabs with copper bullion to the value of their standard silver denominations. They did that because they did not have access to silver but had plenty copper mines.
Here is mine:

Swedish-Plate-Money

It is a 2 Daler (stamp in the middle) from 1750 (which can easily be read from the stamp in the top left) - KM[CE]#PM71

The weight is ~1.3kg and the dimensions are 18.5x17.0cm.

When the plate money was demonetised it was either melted down or shipped to India where is was cut up and used to make the local (crude) copper coinage.
My piece of Plate Money was recovered from the wreck of the Danish ship Nichobar, which sunk close to Cape Town in 1783.

The largest one of these in existence is located in Stockholm at the royal coin cabinet museum. Also on display are thousands of Viking era coins, and an incredible amount of fantastic coins -- even a US Trade dollar proof.

A must visit if one is in Stockholm.
