Just re-check a roll of proof 1962 nickels and found two from the same die that shows a nice DDR. A class 2 distorted hub example. I don't have a number for it yet, just found them a few minutes ago. How I missed it? It happens.

Awesome.... I got a few similar but not the same, the more spread ones like yours turned out to be triple dies did you zoom all the in to check if it a triple die reverse like but not necessarily ... the WDDR-132 I think I see the third under it very close doubling here is a link to similar example http://www2.briansvarietycoins.com/shop/view/953

Well, that tears it. Coop missed one?
OK, guys. You all gotta go back and recheck every coin you own. If Coop missed one, anything's possible.

Dave - he may have just been distracted by one of our many questions. Broad errors such as that have to be uncommon.

Just the area next to the rim was affected and only on the devices in this area. I was looking for a machine doubled example from the same year and found an interesting one, but stumbled on these two.

Honestly, I wish I kept some of those questionable specimens from early on. In my mind's eye I see DDOs of opportunities lost. Luckily you still had the coins to catch on a second pass.

That is why I recheck things from time to time, or could just be that I am hoping they will turn into a varity. Nice finds

Quote: How I missed it? It happens. In my case this is one of the situations I am always counting on when visiting coin shows, for example, since not all dealers have the same focus w/r/t the types of items they peddle. Many times they'll receive in trades and just not have the time nor desire to 'waste' their time focusing in on time-consuming searches of varieties/errors before reselling them etc... They cannot envision adequate recurring ROI with this endeavor and are not simply searching for 'the diamond in the rough' that I often enjoy so much even though I often come up empty. For me the primary thrill is in the 'hunt' with the 'find' just being the 'icing on the cake'. I used to avoid coin shows until I 'saw the light'. mdpmedia
