Hi guys, I'm new to the forum and new to coin collecting in general. I bought a small collection of coins from someone and it included a yellow 1966 silver dollar. The lighting is bad in this picture, but when I say yellow I mean very yellow, and it's perfectly uniform across the whole coin. Is this just toning?

to CCF.I can't tell by your pic if it's toning or has been plated. If it is natural toning it looks great. What does the other side look like?

You occasionally see copper nickel coins tone to an even golden yellow.

Can't see a silver coin toning that evenly.
I would lean towards it being plated.

I'm assuming it's plated then? Why plate a silver dollar?

If your second set of pics shows the real colour, then I'll also lean toward plated since it's got a very even colour.
The why, people do weird stuff to coins. This one might be a science experiment.

It's not uncommon to plate coins as souvenirs.
There is a set of 1967 PL coins in a plastic holder that are all plated gold for sale. Google "plated coins" for more.
