I found a used 7070 album at my lcs for like $10. It seems in pretty good condition but it has a few tears on the pages. I was wondering how I could repair it. It's mostly cosmetic but I'm afraid of it getting worse.

Would using Scotch tape or double sided tape affect the coins in the album any? I don't feel comfortable using glue with it releasing volatile organic compounds. What's the best way of getting the dust and fingerprints off the plastic slides? For this type set I'm thinking of using well worn coins, cleaned, and holed coins for the fun of it, so if they tone it would probally be a improvement.

cellophane tape such as scotch tape is out. It does not hold up. If the tears are bad you should do some research on archival quality glues. if they are very bad perhaps you should pass

It's pretty minor tears I may look up archival glues. Is there a good way to clean the slides. I got the price reduced to five dollars so I'm getting it.

If it were mine I would just leave it alone.

Five dollars is probably worth the chance. Let us know how it goes. If you can, show some pictures of the damage; maybe not as bad as you think.

Sounds like fun. Putting holed coins and damaged coins in a damaged album!
Like a Rat Rod . . . . sorta.
I agree with your point though on the slides. They need to be pristine.
Anyone use Plast-X on slides? A bottle will cost more than the album though.

For the slides, you could always buy sheets of clear acetate and cut them to size.

The only thing that need repairs are the slides and a part of the page with the large dollars. It's coming apart where the large clad dollar goes. But I'm super interested in finding coins for it at a good price. I found a junk Standing Liberty quarter and Walking Liberty half for it so far. Both are cleaned and I got them at about spot.

Not as bad as I thought. I would considering using some archival quality double-sided tape to hold that bit down.

You are off to a good start on filling the holes.

Bertensgrad.....if you want me to go through my junk silver let me know. I know I have a Peace dollar with a small hole or two in it and maybe a Morgan also.....and I'm sure a few more that would fit in your album. Sent me a PM if you want me to look.
