These four coins came out of a bag of random coins I got from a local auction (still got about 300 others to sift through)and I believe they are the following? : 1: George lll evasive halfpenny dated 1776 2: Buffalo nickel (good condition) dated 1913 3: Buffalo nickel dated 1918 4: Seated Liberty quarter dollar 1858 The Buffalo nickel (1913) appears to be in superb condition for its age, there is slight staining on the front of the coin but I am sure that would clean up. Any comments welcomed, here are the photos:

The 1913 Buffalo nickel appears to be a type one. (Five cents is on the raised ground) It also appears to be cleaned so it is not worth very much. The other Buffalo nickel is also not worth very much. The Quarter appears to be in good shape and may be worth something. I have no idea what the Half Penny is worth.

A bigger photo of the 1913 Buffalo nickel head...... is it a good idea to leave that staining alone or to try and polish it out? To my untrained eye this one "may" be a DDO and, if so, I don't want go in hard with silvo cleaner and ruin it. This puppy has lived most of its life in a bag, in the UK, from what I can make of it..... maybe it's just a nice, clean, example or do you guys think it's a DDO?

Never clean coins! That includes polishing, whizzing, using chemicals (Other than acetone, but be careful when using it. Doing some research first would be a good idea.), and wiping with a cloth, and those are only some examples. I think the quarter might be polished too. If you can take a photo like you did with the 1913 Buffalo nickel, I might be able to tell.

I got a bag of about 700 coins (from all over the world / mostly British) from a local auction and I won the lot for £2 GBP....... I haven't cleaned any of them and that 1913 nickel stood out from the rest of the crowd in the bag..... all I can think is that the guy who put the coins into the auction cleaned a couple of them up to make them look a bit more "shiny" to the bidders.
I'll take a highly detailed shot of the seated liberty coin, I don't think it has been touched...... not a biggie though, as you guys say, because there were lots of VERY old British coins in the bag (and a few Indian coins) and it's possibly the best £2 I have EVER spent.
A beautiful 1683 Charles ll maundy threepence, 9 x Queen Victoria rupees, 14 unknown coins, 19 Queene Anne shillings, 27 George lll Bullhead shillings...... I could go on and on.
I thought the 1776 George lll evasive halfpenny might have been of interest to you guys in the United States.

That's an incredibly cheap price to pay for that many old coins- ! As per others' comments, someone polished the value out of your 1913 Buffalo, but it's worth keeping to have an example of the type. How about posting some pics of other treasures from this bag in the world coin forum?

The polished 1913 is irrelevant - for £2 that's an outstanding purchase. The Quarter looks good, and even as a common date is worth far more alone than your lot price.

The 1858 Seated Liberty I would take in a heart beat. Nice pick up PinkFloyd. Are you the real Pink Floyd? As in Rock Fame.

I'll try and grade these (the US coins, I have little experience with British ones): 1913 Type 1 Buffalo nickel, EF details, cleaned. 1858 Seated Liberty quarter, EF details, cleaned. 1918 Buffalo nickel, problem-free VF. Heck of a deal for two quid actually. Quote: Are you the real Pink Floyd? That's what I'd like to know as well...

why do I never go to auctions like that. 19 Queen Anne shillings! 19 coins at least 300 years old. I am going to go wlk in traffic now. Last time I saw coins at an auction they went for about five times their value. darn fine job, PinkFloyd

Pink Floyd is the name of a group not one individual.

Is it just me or, based on the shadowing and general sense of depth in the image, but doesn't the quarter dollar look far to thick? You guys sure it is not a fake?
