Maybe silly question. But, What is with the lines heading west off the 5 on the reverse?

I'm thinking it's a function of Die Deterioration - a random die-damage event probably wouldn't cut as many separate lines. Kind of odd to see a die designed to strike nickel actually wear out.

Ssuperdave. Why would you think it odd for a nickel die to wear out? The alloy that a nickel is made from is way harder then 90% silver or 95% copper

Also my first thought. However, why would it not show on any other devices? Also, why would the inner curve lines flow west and not toward the rim?

Excuse me if I am being daft....
