Hi All

I can see that this coin has suffered some circular scratching around the edge and in the beaver and the rock he's sitting on and some straight horizontal scratches on both sides. But what do you think of the apparent extra material in the 9 and to the N in Canada? It doesn't seem to be on top of the 9.

Thanks

I doubt if there would be a premium in this. It just has too much damage to be desirable.

But you never know.If you like it then by all means hang on to it.

I think what's going on in the 9 is just a bit of rust bubbling up. Rust spots are pretty common on the steel coins of 1944-45, 1952-54.

Thanks Scissel!

I suppose it could be rust. My grandfather marked this as "design in 9" when he looked at the coin sometime between 1953 and his death in 1983 - his diagram is the same as what is there now.

I've since noticed that there is a bit of extra material above the S in cents, as well.

Thanks for your help!
