Chuckle, In my never ending quest to influence the membership here to begin collecting Classic American Bust Coinage which BTW is surprisingly inexpensive if you search around a bit. I offer for your enjoyment (or aggravation) two Early American pieces, an 1808, O-106A (Large Die Crack on Obverse near LIBERTY) CBH in VF-20ish condition and a 1821, (21 lower than the 18 and a die defect near the bottom of the shield) CBH O-106 in VF-30ish shape, VOLA...

Ben:
This is getting silly, I picked up two pieces this weekend, an 1826 O-101 in VG-F and an 1836, O-110, both common, and then you show up with these?

I'll never catch up.
Nice coins, still I am envious.

Frank, I don't look at it like a race or anything. Actually getting into the BHNC club is secondary to my enjoyment collecting the series and thinking about the history surrounding the coins. The Great New Madrid EarthQuake causing the Mississippi River to run backwards, Great Chief Tecumseh's (antics, uprisings, and massacres), and the westward expansion of the nation.

A very understudied and fascinating period of American History between the Revolutionary and the Civil Wars.

Ben...
Shhh! Don't tell the secret that bust coinage is surprisingly affordable. The last thing I need is a bunch of forum members competing with me for those coins! I like the look of the 1821. Have you joined the BHNC yet? What's the process? I'm still a long way from 100 varieties, but I've been thinking about it lately.

I've got enough types and coins to qualify for membership now, the only problem is my location in respect to other club members. There is nobody within 9 or 10 hours (600 miles) who can verify my collection and attributions... So, I'll wait until the wife and I can kill two birds with one stone so-to-speak and make the trip.

Sometimes living on a farm has it's limitations...

Take care

Ben:
I was just kidding!
(But you knew that).
I really like looking at your Busties.
Gotta get some of those Draped Busts, just to make myself feel better.
Did you ever get to the ANA? (I don't know how far you are from Milwaukee, but I presume that anything under 5 hours is considered close up there).

There is a small/local show next month in town (Rapid City) which I plan on attending. Last year I wasn't able to attend cause my mom had passed away and had to drive down to Texas for the funeral. This year, I (should be able) will make it and hopefully get a chance to meet OldDan in the process...

Wow, very nice busties! I like the 1828's look better than the 1808. Just wondering, does the 1808 still have some of it's original luster left?
