We all know the "unsearched" rolls on ebay have in fact been searched. But my question is where are all these scammers getting these paper old style rolls from in the first place?
Not only that they must have a machine that crimps it to look like to hasnt been opened. But like I said we all know those 2 end coins are always put there on purpose.
The paper rolls really do look like the appropriate time period for the coins they are marketing.
The paper rolls might be 'new' old stock. There is a lot of stuff out there, I remember reading a post on the forums referencing an auction years ago where a large quantity of unused rolls from a bank in Carson City were sold.
I see a lot of them from my ongoing ads on CL for free appraisal of inherited coin collections. Catch is, I get 1st offer on any piece they are willing to part with.
I bought 10 rolls of wheat cents recently just to give to my 12 and 13 year old nieces. I know they were "searched", but I also knew that my nieces got a kick out of searching "unsearched" rolls.
