There is a tail south west corner and inside the D more of some devise. Could it be a D over S? Thoughts? Or just nothing at all?

No listing on this one. There are several for this year/mint, but nothing like yours. Are you sure that area west of the mint mark on the lower serif is raised? If not, it might be a contact mark?

It's raised...it reminds me of the 1948 S/S dime the way it sticks out. There's also portions inside the D.

The contact marks on the MM have altered some of the overall appearance. So unless you could find a listing for it, the circulation would detract from being a new listing. I would save it for now until you could get more listing of attributed dies.
