Sent coin off to be grade with mint error. The Professional say no mint error. I was told it could be resubmitted at my expense, of course. I tried to measure it in the capsule and I am getting between 0.08 and 0.012 miss alignment, if that what it is called. Is this within the US Mint Tolerance for this proof coin? If NOT mint error what is it called? Different Issues: Paid for secure capsule but I don't see the secure emblem on the capsule, they are looking into it, this battle going on for about a month now. Like to hear what everyone else thing.

Not an error. Well within tolerance.

What is the US Mint Tolerance for this special proof coin? How can I go about measuring the coin more accurately?

When you have to measure in hundredths of an inch to find a variance, you are always going to be in tolerances. A MAD doesn't kick in until it is easily noticeable to the naked eye and has some portion of the design elements missing

No need to. This is not an "error."

I have seen double die date and mint marks less noticeable than this coin that are graded error.
What is the different? I am just trying to educate myself.
Go to this third party web-site look up mint error in their glossary and see how they define mint error.

Coins struck from doubled dies are not errors, they are varieties.
Coins struck form a misaligned die (MAD) are errors, but the value generated by MAD is dependent upon how far off that alignment is.

Your coin is completely 'normal' based on mint standards ... and as stated above is not considered to be an error.

It's within Mint tolerances...the difference is so small that if you don't decide to measure it accurately, it would look perfectly normal to the naked eye. Not an error.

I keep reading about the naked eye. The naked eye is what lead me to take a closer look. You can see it if you look at the first picture.
In the end it is what it is.
On this coin how is it that the non-frost part of Kennedy face is on the coin?
Is there two-(2) dies?
Or just the frosted die?

From what I have been reading a varieties is cut into the die. Double dies are not cut into the die.
