Which time of the year has been the best for finding silver?

I am hoping to get my hands on more than I have been before. Starting up at the end of the month, I cant wait.

I know its a lot harder to buy when silver is down because everyone hides it, :)

well CRH speaking,
Christmas since grandmothers give a Mercury dime and
tell a story to their grandchildren, a week later they
use it on a bag of chips!

I say between the third Week of November and the second week of February.

Okay, that is a bit random estimates, but my logic is people start dumping coin jars they had saved for the year around (US Thanksgiving) so they can prepare to buy gifts for the holidays. Also like Francium said, some people may get silver coins as holiday gifts and spend them. I figure though that a month or so into the next year most of the silver that was readded has been pulled by Us(CRH), bank tellers, money carrying services (Brinks etc.) or made its way back into a jar or back of a bank vault.

Just my randome guess, and could be way off, but it sounds good.

That's exactly whiy I am scared to death to give kids stuff haha.

I might get my newborn niece a proof eagle or something that isn't easily spendable. The little one can't decide when it's popping out so I can't get one in advance haha. She's due January 1st but they expect it might be early. So looks like I'm getting either a 2014 or a 2015 eagle at the last minute.

I'm going to agree with Brenpickle. I've heard comments for years regarding coin jars being dumped around New years, but it's never played out in my finds.

I'm not sure how much the yearly coin jar helps CRHers. How many gems do you find in your pocket change every year? Mine isn't much different than what I would find in a similar amount of boxes.

That said, I agree with the premise that the holiday season brings collectibles back in to circulation. I believe it comes from more desperate circumstances.

I have gotten a nice dump of about 80-90% copper with a few hundred wheats in it. That seemed to be a prechristmas dump. Could've been coincidence,
