How much are they worth and should I send them out to be graded?
What do you think the grade would be for these notes?

I don't think I would send them out to be graded...you can do that yourself pretty readily. From the photos, they look to be almost pristine, but better photos, front and back, would be needed to give you a solid estimate of grade and value. It's a nice bonus that they have consecutive serial numbers and the numbers are relatively low, starting with two zeroes.

One thing we know for certain...you have $200!

I don't have access to my currency books, so can't give a range of values at this time.

In my book it says they're worth $350-400 I would highly suggest getting them graded.

I was thinking of that but when I was talking to some coin shop dealer, he told me that the demand for the $100 notes are very weak. He also mentioned that no one would buy it. Is he right?

Thanks ALKOZ, I really plan on getting it graded no matter what the coin dealer said...

Luckyrollers:

Your star notes were issued by the Federal Reserve Bank of New York as you can see in the seal on the left side. They are 1969 Series C notes. There were only 256,000 of these particular notes printed. In my book, which is a couple of years old, the value ranges from $135 in VF-20, to $160 in EF-40, to $400 in Unc-63.

Those values are, of course, retail, so a dealer would have offered maybe 60% of those figures in 2005.

Your dealer, telling you there isn't much market for $100 star notes in general may be telling the truth. Remember, the buyer/collector will first have to pay the face value of the bill, then pay the premium for its rarity. I would have to imagine there are more buyers for a $1, $5, $10 or even $20 than for a C-note. You may have good luck selling them at a larger coin show, or on ebay or another auction site.

Good luck.

Hunter,
First off I want to thank you for the info. I would still love to have it graded anyways and I heard that PMG does this without being a member. Is that correct? And how much do they charge for grading?
