So, with all of the Chinese counterfeit coins out there, when will we start to see counterfeit Dansco Albums? I am surprised there are not some already out there, especially with some of the 'Type' albums commanding such a premium.

I have actually thought about buying one of those plain "Silver Dollars" Dansco albums to put all my counterfeit Morgan/Bust/Flowing Hair dollars. I think they would look neat in one of those.

I prefer generic coin albums. THEY are MUCH harder to fake!

With counterfeit coin albums, you'll end up with albums laced with crap lot of chemicals, thus leading coins to artificially tone to some hideous color.
That said, I do have a couple of type set albums from Taiwan and China. Literally designed with PVC. Not great.

Not sure if anyone could or would be able to tell if their Albums of any manufacturer is real of fake. The reason is just who really knows where they are made. Although so many THINK Dansco is made in the USA, do you really know that? Many items today are made in China but assembled in the USA so they can state MADE IN THE USA. As an example, ever see those openable awnings? All materials are made in China but ASSEMBLED IN THE USA. Whitman is owned by Harris and Harris materials are all made in China but assembled in the USA. IF your order a separate page for an Album for a Whitman Album, it will come with a sticker saying MADE IN CHINA. Today many companies say made in the USA but just where are the materials from? Many of todays cars are assembled in the USA with 80% or more of the parts from other countries. If you go to the Wizard coin supply web site and check out Albums, they carry a large variety today. Try to find who makes the materials for them? Just because you THINK your Albums is made here, where are the materials made?

Why would they put out a fake album? That would be like counterfeiting a 1 dollar bill wouldn't it?

Well considering it wasn't that long ago the Dansco 7070 albums were bringing $75 or more on ebay because you just can't get them, I think there was probably at least some profit in making knockoffs. then there are the old National Coin Albums, and the Wayte Raymond albums which are collectible in their own right. They might be worthwhile to counterfeit as well.
