Please test its density. This is to tell its authenticity. They are commonly counterfeited.

Thanks already for your reply. I presume you mean the percentage of silver?

At last I have calculated an approximate density. Around 6.5 kg/dm3 (european measures).

6.5 is nowhere near the density of silver (you're wanting around 9.5 to 10.0). If your number is accurate, I'd assume you've got a zinc-brass replica.

Thanks. I've done 10 more tests now. Problem is I have no exact measuring tools (use medicine container with small scale to measure difference in waterheight for calculation of the volume). After my extra tests I come to the following result : 9.3 - 9.6 (19 gram - 2 ml (approximate). I think one of these days I better go to a jeweller so he can test this item is silver or not. Someone a better idea?
Someone can tell me what this object was used for (supposed it is real silver?)?

In Imperial China, "coinage" in the form of cast "cash" coins, was only made out of copper/bronze. Gold and silver were traded as commodities, but were not produced in a standard government-issued monetary form as they were in the West. Instead, merchants produced their own ingots for use in trade. The stamps inside (and perhaps on the base) are marks of the merchant that made it. The "boat" shape came about because the mould in which it was cast was rocked back and forth as the molten silver cooled.
