I finally bought something! Since July I hadn't added an item to my collection till this copper strike ( I assume its a trial strike) of the silver commemorative thaler/medal issued in 1888. Theres a personal story behind this acquisition. I knew that there had been 250 silver examples of the medal produced and that there were two varieties( one with a maria theresa thaler edge and one with out). Surprisingly at the beginning of the year A copper example was being sold in a auction. On the day of the auction my wife had a task for us to do....as the auction was also an e auction my wife was sure I would get back in time to bid.....she was wrong, I got home in time to see it sold to some one else. I just couldn't log on in time to bid!

Well a second example came up for sale: My wife knew there was nothing I would be doing that day other than being glued to the computer. I won it( I am not telling my wife I got it €300.00 cheaper than the first example) Here it is( it has an MTT edge):

Cool! A medal whose subject is, itself numismatics. And the artistry of both sides is appealing, as is the toning. Congrats!
