I'm just getting into ancient Greek coins and have been trying to find these coins. The obverse of both coins is the Hercules wearing a lion skin common to alexander the great. I believe that the one with the anchor is Seleuid Kingdom but I'm not sure. The second coin I don't have a clue! Is that a date under the chair? Anything you could tell me would be a great help. If only the coins could talk imagine. Thanks Anthony

Can you provide pictures of the obverses and a straight on shot of the reverses rather than at an angle?

Somehow missing the 'delta' in the name of 'ALEXANDROU' on the top coin - anyone have a comment on that?
The second reads 'BASILEWS' on the botton and 'SELEUKOU' on the side, so clearly a Seleucid coin.

I don't know what to make of coin 1 with the missing letter. What I find interesting about coin 2 is the position the anchor is on the coin. All of the ones I've coming across the anchor is in a vertical position. On this coin it's horizontal. I don't know if that makes really makes a difference or not.

There are tetradrachms of Seleukos I from the Ecbatana mint that have horizontal anchors.

And the over all style of the coin, and other devices, like the front part of the horse, the artistic style of Herakles, etc., all point to a coin of Seleukos I from the Ecbatana mint.
