Has anyone seen an error like this

I can't think of any error that would make a coin look like this. Maybe some guy from the 19th century got a little bored. It is weird looking. What does everyone else think?

Could you post a reverse pic and a pic at a very shallow angle (from horizontal) to give us a view of what is incuse.

Are you sure that is actually part of the coin? Looks like chewing gum, wax, or something. The color doesn't look original, so whatever it is could have taken on the coloring agent.

It's not glue look at the post better pictures. It is copper

Has to be some sort of PMD....What does the reverse look like? Glue was my first thought as well....have you dipped it in acetone?

with the others. It looks like glue. Sometimes the glue appears to be metal taking in the color of the coin. I've had this fool me on more than one occasion. You might try a bit of acetone in a small spot like Amida suggested and see what that does.

Reverse is normal I don't want to damage a XF AU coin
