Well, I would just to guarantee authenticity, but it most likely will come back cleaned because of the hairlines.

Looks kinda mushy but I guess that could be from a harsh cleaning.

Welcome to Coin Community, aajbarrett. Unfortunately, I don't think there's a chance that it's real - the details are simply too mushy for a real coin even factoring the wear. It's especially obvious in the upper bust and denticles. The date is wrong - the 8 should be farther from the 1 and the 4's should be closer together. Not to mention, the inside corners of the bottom serifs are radiused on the real coin, but not here.

This is a low-mintage issue with only one die pair known. They all have the same date configuration, and that configuration isn't present here.

I don't think it is genuine either.

Funny, there's a Scotch-Brite ad right below the OP on my browser. My thoughts exactly.

Just had the silver content verified and weighed at 26g which is .7 off the listed weight but should be normal for the amount of wear, have looked in the design further and seen dozens of examples of the 8 in that position, the mushy appearance is down to the photo I took abd in person looks higher detail, I believe it's genuine abd the idiot before me cleaned liberty as the heads side of the coin is still dirty and unworn

Wouldn't happen to have the "CC" mint mark on the back, would it? The Chinese made gazillions of "1844-CC" coins a while back. Problem was the Carson City Mint did not start production until 1870... Lol.

Hate to say it, but that coin has the Chinese counterfeit look to it.
