I received by 16/16 Buffalo nickel back from ANACS today and was happy that they authenticated it. However, I'm wondering what else might be in the slab. If you closely at the photo, starting at about 1 o'clock and proceeding in an arc on down to about 4:30, there appears to be a liquid or oil or something between the front and back "panes" of the slab. Has anyone ever experienced this before? Should I be concerned?

Steev...
Never seen that before.
I'd email ANACS that picture Monday morning and ask them what they think of it.

I have seen this pretty commonly on these ANACS holders. Maybe it's just the front and back touching? When I pinch the panels closer, you can see that clear area change. I would email them to make sure.

I might be some air moisture, you know how the screens of Ipads do this when they have the original peel-off cover on them? I'm thinking the same is happening here.

It is where the inner gasket actually touches the inside of the slab. You could squeeze the slab together and it will contact more area...temporarily. Nothing to worry about.

I've seen that on one of mine too. PS Is that the 1916 you talked about on another thread a few weeks?

The 3 coins I just got back from ANACS are similar to yours. even my 16 SLQ from last year has that look. At first I was concerned, but I think it maybe an air pocket. coins are fine.

it is where the gasket is touching the outer shell. You will also see this sometimes on the white inserts of the small ANACS slabs and on NGC slabs. I have also seen it on the gaskets of the older PCGS SLABS.

Yes I have. I sent a 1909s VDB to PCGS that came back with a hair in the slab. So I sent it back only to have the hair still in it a second time just in a different place. So they had to deal with it a third time to get it right. I had posted pictures like you here in a different post. https://goccf.com/t/166077 Contact them and I'm sure they will fix the problem. Good luck
