@ Commems thanks for posting pics and describing both coins. I thoroughly enjoy reading and learning the history of each coin you post about. I hope one day, you'll consider doing a thread with the coins from your silver dollar collection, with their histories. It would be such an asset!!
You always put so much effort and thought into your posts on a coins history!! Much like a living enclopedia. You show how we can learn history in an enjoyable way. I'm a big fan of yours.
I want to eventually get this set. I just need to get my hip replacement surgery out of the way.
Then I'll know how much fun I have to play with.
The details on the coin you posted are very rich. How do you get such great pics, with such good contrast? Any tip?

Here's my 1989 Mackenzie - it's one of my absolute favorites among Canada's SD series. In fact, this one was the coin that came to my mind when I first saw the "Voyageurs" coin in the "Exploring Canada" series. They share a similar perspective. @pocket change 50/SilverDon: Thanks for the kind words about my historical posts and compliments about the accompanying images.
Regarding my technique for creating images: I use a scanner for the coins I present - I don't yet have a good digital camera. I scan at a reasonably high resolution (600-1200 dpi) and adjust the images by enhancing their contrast and balancing the brightness to achieve the contrast between the fields and devices. Each one is balanced on a case-by-case basis due to the variations in design of each SD.

@ silverdon, so cool with the upside down 2011 canoe, it's a very interesting veiw of the design, I never would have caught so fully. I must try the upside on my 2011 canoe coin. Those other coins are great too! I never realized there were so many takes on this one basic design. It would make an outstanding display on this theme.
@ Commems: thank you for the tips: I have a scanner app on my iPhone, I will spend some time experimenting with the options on it. Such great ideas & postings of images. Keep them coming please !!

@pocket change, thanks, it was your idea to include
the 20for20 coin, nice one, I was so inspired by this
thread, I purchased the '84 and '89 coins at a great
discount on CA yesterday along with 7 other Silver
Dollars. Mostly from the '80's. I hope your surgery
goes well and you don't have to wait too long. Best

Oh Pocket Change, I was wondering about your hip surgery. I'm glad to hear you have had it, and I wish you a speedy recovery. When you're better, you'll be able to jump all the hurdles your mint rep can put in front of you with ease...  |
