Thanks Dave, I've come along way in coin photography from where I was about a year ago.
This coin is actually one of my favorite recent purchases. I think it's the subtle golden toning that does it.

That is a stunner! I was initially thinking MS-65, but with your second set of pics, I would be comfortable putting it at an MS-66 with a shot at a 67. Great pics by the way!

Got the grade back from PCGS, if anyone else wants to make a guess.
I will post the grade later tonight, or tomorrow morning.

I still say it's a solid 66 all day everyday.

I think it got a 66 easily, but a + tacked on to the grade would not surprise me. May I ask where you bought this piece? I can never find high grade Morgans that are raw.

Here's the thread I posted four weeks ago regarding a raw 1880-S I had just picked up: https://goccf.com/t/196262This particular issue appears to have an unbelievable number of high grade specimens extant and yet uncertified. I still think the one here makes MS65 without difficulty, but in looking again at the photos, I worry that the little scuffing above the eye and the ever so slighly incomplete strike of the hair over the ear will limit it to that. But those are technical points, and if it's "market" graded, well, who knows?

Thanks for the link Lucky. I guess I just need to look around some more.

Quote: PCGS MS-66 Well, it's hard to argue with that, PCGS has graded almost 10K at that level, and it's an example with terrific eye appeal. Makes me wonder how mine would fare if submitted.
