I think the Mint ought to try some more familiar urban animals instead of all these exotic beasties. How about raccoons, skunks, squirrels, chipmunks, pigeons, seagulls...

The train is nice, but out of whack as far as price goes, $169 for 2 ounces that the mint could likely get for $35 (Silver at $17.87 Cdn as I write), maybe less depending on how much the mint pays for the raw silver. The cost of the design, the engraving, the time and labour still does not justify the price. I am thinking that the mintage is low, and the theme is a good one, it will create demand through a sellout, the format being large will appeal due to rarity. Again, I could likely get 5 or 6 nice different bullion coins from around the world through APMEX or CA and be happier but that is me, those who love trains or the theme of this coin will be happy no matter what the cost, at 54 mm it certainly would make for a big canvas for the artist.
Rest in Peace

Again a gold plated and nicely boxed 2014 O'Canada 10 coin set...but at more than double the original 'issue' price of $39.95/coin these are $85/coin with no opportunity to subscribe - that's $849.95 in one chunk. I'll pass.

I saw that one coming. They at least present it in a nice wooden box!

I was just thinking, it wood be a hoot, if they used the same cardboard box for the gilded version!! Too many pain meds tonight I guess.
