Pretty Sweet 1973 D Strike Or Clash Error

Hflirn Pillar of the Community United States 586 Posts	Posted 11/05/2014 03:53 am Just found this from today's pocket change and thought that it was interesting that the coins design was struck over (I assume) a mangled coin somehow. I say this because some of the clashed like letters flow under the motto/wording of the nickel. It looks like because of the strike error it says Montioello Five Gents. Probably just me. Either way I haven't come across a strike error like this so I thought I'd share. If anybody has a guess as to what it was struck against, feel free to give me some ideas b/c I can't figure it out as of now. The coin is dirty from wherever its been so put a couple drops on it to hopefully make things easier for me and you all to see what's going on. Report this Post to the Staff

Taking pictures of them is very difficult as many require holding on an angle to catch light across the witness marks. I can't see anything on your coin yet...but I'm trying.
