Hey everybody!
I would appreciate it if anyone could help me out regarding its identification, authenticity and the price! The antique dealer has no idea about coins of this age and only specializes in contemporary money. He has a few Abbasid coins lying around as well. if the deal is right, this could be my first Persian/Pre-Islamic coin!

He is selling this for about 60 dollars. Thoughts and suggestions?

Anoob is the one that will know for sure, but my best guess would be Khurso II.

He is one I recently bought for $31.

Agreed on Khusro II.

Either it was struck on a small, thick flan, or it's heavily clipped. It's also seen quite a bit of circulation.

These are among the most common Sassanian drachms and $60 seems like it's slightly expensive, but not exorbitantly priced. Two different vendors on Vcoins are selling specimens with similar wear, but on better flans, for around $40 or less.

Don't have a catalogue on hand but based on the headgear style, I agree with the Khusro II.

Yup The Crown points to Khusro II. So with that established. IMHO for less than $100 you could have a mint state one. The one pictures is a $30-$40 coin the flan is heavily clipped. One could argue this is not a coin that sat in a jar but circulated far and wide for a good while. That can be desirable to some. How important is use vs wear to you?
