Hey everyone. So I was looking at this Greco-Bactrian coin and then I tried to confirm the seller's ID of BMC.10. So I checked Wildwinds, and it skips between BMC.8 and BMC.16.

So I was wondering, is the coin listed on Wildwinds under Sear, Bop, or MIG? Here's the link to the coin and a link to Wildwinds' page on Menander I. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thank you!

According to Cunningham in his book "Coins of Alexanders Successors in the East". Your coin bares the monogram of being struck in Dionysopolis in the middle of the Kabul valley. The list of monograms is extensive so it's will be difficult to pin down the exact one. I don't have copies of MIG or Bop, so this is the best I can do.

The relevant volume of BMC can be downloaded from the web but unfortunately #10 and #11 are 'blacked out' and many of the plates are poorly scanned. The attribution by the seller seems likely to be correct though, the key difference in that group is 'king diademed' vs 'king helmeted' and otherwise the mark to the right of Athena (#12 has a similar symbol as the one you are interested in).

If you want to google for a download, the title of this subsection of the catalogue is "Greek and Scythic Kings of Bactria and India" - don't forget "British Museum" though.

Thanks for the reference Just added it to my reference material. You should post the link on the Books, Downloads and Video sticky section.

Sorry, don't have the link anymore - downloaded it a few weeks ago. Most BMC volumes can be downloaded from various sites.

echizento, that section is listed under "Bactria" in the downloadable ebook list and goes to Google Books, if you wanted to download it (it's also on archive.org here).

Thanks 'xshift'
but why is the 'books' section hidden? No easy tag to find it.
And the copy in archive.org is far better digital copy.

'wheatchaser140' go have a look yourself at number 10 and 11 (also pictured on the plates) on page 44, personally I would argue for number 12 on page 45.

It's not hidden

It's not easy to find either, wonder how many here knew about this list. Would be lovely to have it as a tag like the "Glossary" in the "Navigation" list.
