While the Parvus didn't stir too many responses but for those who have an interest in medieval Hungarian coins (or to rouse interest), here three more examples:

Denar from Charles I Robert (1307-1342)
No religious symbolism on this one but an interesting reverse: Helmet with head of ostrich holding horseshoe in beak.

Denar from Louis I (1342-1382), he was also King of Poland
This is the famous "denarius Saracenus", so named because of the portrait.

Denar 1504 from Wladislaw II (1490-1510), also King of Bohemia
Clearly showing the old style '4' in the date and
the very common reverse used on Hungarian coinage for a long time.

Really nice coins. What are the size and weight of them? I have a Denar from Riga in Medieval Poland somewhere that very small and light weight.

Don't have the weight atm since they are in 2x2s and still unpacking stuff.
But the size: the denarius Saracenus is quite small with ~13mm, the other two are ~16mm.
For comparison measured a Farthing from Edward I (1272-1307) which comes in at ~11mm, ie the size of the Parvus.

Very nice coin showing Byzantine influence, scyphate?
He also issued 'islamic' coinage as did a few during the crusader period.

Bella III lived in Constantinople for several years was adopted as heir to the throne by the emperor Manuel I Komnenos and betrothed to the emperors daughter Maria. When the emperor had a son of his own, the betrothal was cancelled and he lost his chance to become the next Byzantine emperor.
