I recently acquired a "Commemorating the Silver Jubilee 1952-1977" Queen Elizabeth II coin, and have been attempting to find more information on it. After almost an hour of searching the web, I have come up empty with the exception of one ebay listing:

http://www.ebay.ca/itm/1oz-Silver-P...em4188364299

My coin is identical to the one shown in the listing, however the seller did not provide any specifics. The listing mentions that it is a 1 oz. silver coin, however I weighed mine and it comes up just short at 28 grams. I suspect the seller just mistook it for 1 oz.

If anyone could provide me with any insight into its composition, mintage, issuer etc. it would be greatly appreciated!

this is NOT a coin. It is a medal.

These medallions originally came in a blue velvet box and were produced at the Jacques Cartier Mint, Cobalt, Onatrio (now closed). Released in 1977 in commemoration of Queen Elizabeth II Silver Jubilee. Consists of .999 silver with the cameo finished in 24 karat gold.

Here's a little snippet from the Montreal Gazette July 17.1972 re the Mint at Cobalt. http://news.google.com/newspapers?n...2406,3949888
