Hi All

I found these 7 cents together in my grandfather's collection and I thought as I looked through them that the S mint mark was moving around a bit on the different coins. Sometimes it is close to the date, sometimes farther away (and smaller) and sometimes it is located just slightly to the left of the 2 in the date, but other times, directly under the two or directly below the gap. Is this much variation normal?

Thanks for your help!

In those days, mint marks were applied by hand, so you do see a bit of variation in position.

OR they were alive and running around the coin until someone slammed it down.
It is as noted already. Way back in the good old days, Mint marks were put on manually so they are all over the place.
