Well this will be off to PCGS on Monday. Good luster, "More hair above the ear then any MS-66 coins on the Bay, and just a great strike not seen on many 88 O Morgans.

As Superdave would say; That thing is hammered!

A great strike for any O-Mint Morgan. Really nice coin.

I don't think this one will have a problem making a 64.

If it fails to MS-65 I would be shocked. I looked at every MS-66 in PCGS plastic and only 1 is struck this hard, and all have far more chatter. This is the only one with really full breast feathers also.

The breast looks like my cheese grater. Should have a shot at MS66 or better. Very little cabinet friction. nlp
Rest in Peace

Yeah, that is very well struck for an 88-O. Looks like a good shot at 66 assuming the camera is making the luster grazes pop.

Amazing strike for the date/MM. Great luster too.
MS-66 at the least, if it didn't have those chatter on the cheek and the fields in front of her face, it would be an easy 67 IMO.

This is a nice 64. Maybe a plus. Nowhere near 66 territory. Strike is of secondary or tertiary concern when grading uncirculated coins.

Look at the price jump from 64 to 65. You must have a cleaner coin than this to make the jump from a $100 coin to a $500 coin.

Well I appreciate your opinion, I think you are off a little bit on this one. I own 2 PCGS MS-65's, 1 65+ V-1a1 E clasher Top Pop and a V-10 in MS-66 Top Pop and not 1 holds a candle to this one. The friction marks are far less noticeable and light would be an understatement in hand and the reverse looks like it could carry a MS-67. Time will tell, this and 10 others will be at PCGS on Tuesday. .
.
See pick below of my PCGS V-1a1 in MS-65+

You have the coin in-hand and I have to grade from the provided images. That's my grade from the images provided. The other you have shown appears to have less frost breaks and chatter.

The reverse won't carry a Morgan, ever. The obverse carries these and the obverse isn't as nice as the 65 you've posted. Just my Two Cents based on the provided images.

I guess I could see PCGS market grading this one to 65 for the strike, but I think it's a 64+.

Considering the strike I can see a 65 on this one, like MorganGrader mentioned.

Looks like I nailed it. A technical high end 64 market graded 65 for the strike. Still a nice coin.

That is one good looking bird!
Right down to her pretty little talons!
She's an easy 65 candidate.

I just got back about 270 dollars back from PCGS this week. One of my clients just when ballistic, he had busted out "5" PCGS with CAC stickers coins and had me send them in with his other group. 1 coin graded the same MS-64, 3 others graded 1 full grade lower and 1 coin graded 2 grades lower.

While I have seen the grading standards get real tight of late, I would whole heartily agree that the 1st baseman is afraid of making a mistake or this is just a remarketing poly for re-grades later like the Old Green Holders.

Here are a few of the coins I got back and grades, I would not sell a 1 of them at the grades that came back.
