Last night, all out of one roll: 1916-D, 1929-S, 1944-S cents.
Tonight, a 1957-didn't-check-the-mintmark nickel.

Rescued a pretty scratched up 1960D Rosie. Almost missed it because the rim was really dinged up but I was pulling it for the deposit because it was on top of the pile and I noticed the color.

ninamason - I got a 1954-D nickel last night.
Found a 1950 plain Wheat from my work. I was also handed a 2009-P nickel as well while working the cash register. It is only the second 2009-P nickel in my collection. Not as impressive, but 1969-D and 1969 quarters (lower-minted clads in comparison to others in the series).

Today: two silver dimes and a 1947 nickel!
Also had a lady hand me a tiny silver coin and go "I'm not sure this is American . . . ?" I took a look at it and went "It's not, but I collect these. I'll take it for a dime." It turns out that sometime in the last couple of years, Mexico revamped their money again--this dime-sized coin is a replacement for the quarter-sized golden Mexican fifty-centavo piece!

Found these about 2 weeks and 30 miles apart. The large one is the size of a quarter and the small one was in a roll of dimes. The "5" coin has several die cracks that can be seen under magnification. I think they are aluminum, but I'm not sure. Anyone know what they are?   |

Coindog: 2010. My older ones are from the early 2000s and the 1990s, and are all larger and a golden colour. I happened to have a Spanish-speaking (in this part of the world, that means probably Mexican or Colombian) customer at the counter at the same time, and held out the coin to her: "Senora, es moneda real?" (Is this real money?) She said yes, and I explained that I'd only seen "medio pesos de oro" (golden half-pesos)--she laughed and said "es nuevo" (it's new). News to me!
And Baysinger: you appear to have gotten hold of some Chinese coins. The symbol on the far left means "wind" (if I recall correctly--I used to know maybe a dozen of these, but it's been a long time since I used them) and the third symbol should be some variation of the sound "kai," which is that symbol's meaning in Japanese, where it means "fish."

The Chinese pieces are 1 and 5 fen (1/100 of a yuan). Aluminium. Not sure what the characters mean (I don't know any Chinese, I just have a bunch similar coins). [EDIT: Well duh... they probably mean "1 fen" and "5 fen" on the second side, and "Chinese People's Republic" on the first side; that's just a guess though, nor do I know what "fen" means  ] Not really valuable IIRC, but cool to find in circulation... my own coolest find in circulation was a Transnistrian 25 kopek, though I've heard of someone finding a golden dollar (then again, I don't think it's even possible to roll-search in my country, so my venues are somewhat limited).
