I was dumping coins from roll hunting today and found these in the "reject" slot. A 1966 Canadian silver quarter and a 1947-S dime! One man's trash is another man's treasure  |

Found a 2009 Barbados 25 cent piece tonight at work when searching the change machine like I do. Got excited because there was no copper edge but I should have known better. I never find silver quarters only dimes at work. Still adding it to the hodge podge of world coins as a first though!

Jbuck, I don't think so. I weighed it by holding it on one finger and a regular wheat on the corresponding finger on my other hand (I know this isn't going to give me an exact weight and isn't super-scientific, but I wanted to see if it felt much heavier because it also seemed thick), and as I suspected, the plated(?) one felt heavier. Then I passed them to a coworker and said "These feel different to me, check 'em like I just did, would you?" He agreed with me that the silvery one has a different weight.
I forgot, I also got a 1931 cent last night and a dime off-center enough that I think it may qualify as an error (the edge of the planchet doesn't look like a particularly thick rim, it looks like it's actually off-center--first time I've ever seen that).

Interesting. That 1958 might be worthy of its own topic and a photo if you can provide one. The dime may need to be posted in the Variety & Error forum for comment as well. |

I got to look through 15 lbs of change my brother's accumulated over the years before it got dumped. I found six wheat pennies, a 1962 Roosevelt dime, and about $3 in copper pennies, along with a few Canadian pennies and a dime. |

I'll try to photograph the 1958 tomorrow before work (if I can find it--I have change missing out of my work pants  ). If I can't find it in my work pants it'll almost certainly be in my pile of clean laundry, which I dumped my work pants on top of last night. (Wonderful housekeeper I am.) Tonight: 1926-D cent, also some VERY interesting bill serials! In this thread I usually only post coins/notes that I receive in my change from retail transactions. However, many others consider any roll find to be "found in circulation". Nothing wrong with that interpretation, because it would include the 1938-D Buffalo Nickel I found in 2009. And how about this one? Yes, it's 90%Ag!      Edited by DNA
