I was at a store the other day and used the automatic checkout and as part of my change - instead of getting a loonie, it gave me a 2 Pence piece. A different coin is always fun to find, however it isn't quite worth the dollar I should have gotten :(

Some of you may remember that the day I started at my new store, I made a fun find.
Well, my last day is on Tuesday, and I'm happy to announce a full-circle moment today that allows me to leave this job shouting:
WAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAR NICKEL!!

1946 wheat a few nights ago at work, and a 1953-D last night. One week ago the most interesting nickel popped up, but one of my bosses took it - a BU plain 1948 nickel

It's school vacation week, so the kids and I decide to do our semi monthly sorting of the pocket change jar. As we started to sort quarters, pennies, dimes from nickels , my young son said " ooh Dad a D-mint Bison nickel ", always a great find here on the east coast. He continued to search through the change and exclaimed " oh Dad, here's another one " all of a sudden he stopped , his mouth fell open, and there in his hand was a Buffalo nickel. He was soooooo excited. It was a dateless cull, but still an awesome find for an 11 year old. He proudly inserted it into his " type coin " book, and can't wait for his next " show and tell " turn at school. Awesome day !

May as well add my Two Cents worth. My wife had 1961 and 1964 1 cent canadian in her change purse that are MS60 plus quality coins. I was shocked that they were in her stash.

A lady spent a Buffalo nickel today at my work albeit a dateless buff that was surprising. I was very excited to have found a 1949-S Wheat cent in a till at work later in the evening!

Just got around to uploading pictures here. Found the "20" coin in a roll of nickels and the Bermuda in a dime roll.

Pulled this out of the honor jar, resembled a quarter: 1 diram United Arab Emirates. A Saudi classmate I ran into after pulling it explained that these coins are dual dated, below the coffee pot, with the Gregorian and Islamic years, this one dated 2012-1433.

A customer used double foreign today, gave me both a Mexican 1 Peso coin and an Italian 20 Euro Cent coin as nickels, jokes on him that the latter is closer to a quarter!

Decided to doublepost here with some of my favorite finds of my last 7 months since I started work as a cashier, I really do keep a notebook of what I find everyday XD 8-1-12, my VERY FIRST shift, 1961 Washington quarter, one heck of a way to start a job. 8-17-12, my first silver cert ever, series 1935-E. 9-10-12, my first circulating proof coin, a clad 2006-S Nevada quarter. (current total is 9 proofs as of this post) 11-27-12, Aruba 50c coin, not so much a circulation find as a gift from a regular customer... But c'mon, how cool is it to be given a square coin! 12-23-12, Someone, according to my coworker, came in with a huge bag of halves and paid for some smokes with them, upon looking at the coins in question, someone spent 13 40% silver halves at one time, every single one of them! I soooo wish I had been there when the customer was there, I would have offered to buy his entire stash ;-; 1-15-13, Kicked the year off with a bang by finding a SILVER PROOF 2004-S Dime in the change machine. 2-18-13, Another coworker texted me a picture of a $1 bill she thought was fake because she had never seen anything like it before, her 'fake' was a 1957-B Silver Cert STAR NOTE that I had her swap out for me right then. And that's the end of my memorable finds, currently trying to pull my sister into the hunting bit for me, as she's a cashier at the local Target! XD
