I was a cashier for years and only managed a plain old 1957 silver certificate and less than $1 in silver.

I was at the bank waiting for my teller to come back with a box of dimes and I was chatting with the lead teller. I glance over and notice that my teller had a silver dime in his tray!
I said to the lady who was there that I think he has a dime I wanted to buy and she was like... Oh yeah, you DO want that one... and grabbed it right away. Instantly she knew what I meant.
That's how I bought a 1959 dime for 2 nickels!

Since 8-1-12, I've managed 7 War Nickels, 11 silver rosies, 3 silver washingtons and 15 40% halves. $9.70 face value for almost 4 ounces of silver. I think I'm in a great location! |

Yesterday, a clad proof BICENTENIAL Quarter, in amazing shape too. Also what I at first thought was a piece of rusty trash, except on a closer look had the remains of a wheat eared reverse. When held to a magnet, it stuck, so I also scored a badly environmentally damaged steel cent!

Quick question, as the steelie is so far gone that it's face value at best, would vinegar or WD-40 be a better soak if I wanted to try and get the mint mark readable?
Edit: After a vinegar soak and a light scraping with my pocket knife, the date is semi-readable and there's no trace of a mint, so 1943 P steel cent.

British 5 pence and a 57-D wheat, while the penny is common as dirt, this is my 50th 57-D so I now have a full date/mint roll! :D
