Interesting Find From Circulation

My first Lincoln commemorative!


It could have been seeded into the till on purpose, but the store I got it from didn't seem that competent, so it's a mystery. Still, this is pretty cool in Canada!

last Sunday, I reported a 1953 wheat. This Sunday, I picked up a 1953-D wheat at work.

oh wow one of the biggest topics, I should chip in! Besides finding 70's/80's notes in my dad's wallet found a Wheat cent and few QE2 ribbon hair tie pennies.

Good news, I'm back in school and back in business as far as vending machine hunting goes! Priority 1 was to find a shiny 2013 loonie before they lose their gaudy yellow blast and become an ugly orange like the 2012s. Say what you like about the new alloy, but these look great when they catch the light and they're new. (Fun fact: 2013 proof loonies lack the optical security device!)

That accomplished, I whiled away the wait for the next bus with quarters, and found two nice ones.

I volunteered at a relative's garage sale for eight hours. The only interesting finds: Utah-D quarter, and a $20 with "2222" in the serial number. I got to keep the quarter, but not the twenty!

I rolled all the garage-sale change, and already posted about this in the CRH forum, but it's kind of straddling the line between circulation and roll-hunting, so... I'm sorry if you've already read this.

I found all this:


There are two rolls of copper pennies and 10 nickel nickels (one is 12-sided: 1961).


I found these two, along with a newer Monticello nickel and four American dimes.


Some commemoratives, including a grimy 2008 Remembrance quarter. Apparently, acetone gets the colour right off.


Like so many Canadians, the family goes to someplace warm in the winter, while I play in the snow. Anyway, there were two Mexican 5-peso coins, including something cool: a commemorative! I've never found one of these before. Mexico's Centennial was in 2010, but we were too busy issuing Olympic commemoratives to notice - they also did a Mexican States series! One day, I hope to have all the Provincial Quarters (with the Nunavut toonie), the American State Quarters, and the Mexican State Cinco Pesos. Then I'll get a huge map of North America and try and fit them all in.


Two wheats! Lucky me. The 1929 is kind of blackened, perhaps to avoid confusion with the Quarter-Sovereign? (That was a joke.)


Instead of a 10-cent coin with a boat on one side and the Queen on the other, I found a 10-cent coin with a boat on one side and the Queen on the other.

Recently found a proof quarter in a cart that someone just left on the parking lot, it's a first proof for me. I just have a question, is it silver or clad proof?
