While I've had the odd interesting item come to me through the ATM like $100 and $20 notes in CU with a star on them. I haven't really had much in the way of change in a long time. This past week our washing machine broke down at work (Animal Hospital) and I needed to get a bunch of towels washed before the replacement was due to arrive. So I load up the car with a whole lot of dirty towels and head off to the coin-op laundry mat along with a couple of $20s to get quarters. I never have found any silver in their change machine, I asked the owner if she ever found much, and she told me a few years ago she would pull a few dollars worth every week, but hasn't had any in the past year.

Out of $40.00 in quarters I did get one cool thing - A 2011-S Chickasaw ATB Proof quarter, not silver but almost perfect, fell into the chute and I grabbed it out as fast as I could. Hardly any marks on it, though it's definitely impaired now, has a few very light hairlines on it. Still kind of cool, not worth much but I wonder how it made it's way into a laundry mat? It stood out like a sore thumb, it was very obvious that it was different looking - even from a distance.

My wife gave me a handful of change to look through yesterday. I finally found a 2013 P Lincoln with no black on it anywhere. It glitters. Also a 2013 D nickel and 2013 P dime (I haven't found too many 2013s in my area that are worth keeping). These are all for my circulation sets. But the gem of the change was a 1940 nickel, which was my dad's birth year. He passed away 30 years ago last week.

I found my first proof in circulation this weekend!

Was at the Casino with the wife and dumped my change on a table top...it jumped right out at me. So shiny! Very lightly circulated and still brilliant.

1971 S Jefferson nickel

Found a 1950 Wheat cent , a handful of Jefferson Buffalo nickels (no idea where those came from)

And ......... my first Mt.Rushmore ATB Quarter. But it was a D mint. The kids and I have been assembling our ATB set since 2010 and have only found 1 Denver ATB in change. Now our first MT.Rushmore is a Denver mint. Go figure.
