Had to work 3 hours overtime today and on the way out the door stopped at the soda machine to buy a Diet Coke for the drive home.
Got this W San Antonio Missions quarter in change from the machine. It looks like it's been around the block more than a few times already, but still a neat find.

Took in roughly $5 FV in silver dimes the other day, mix of Rosie's and Merc's (heavier on the Mercs I'd say....mostly 1940's....all with beautiful honest circulation wear). Included two Barbers (1914 and 1916) and a 1951 Canadian.

A couple weeks ago, a beautiful 2009 American Samoa silver proof quarter. Has a few marks but still looks great.

little things mean a lot. this just made my day.

heh.. a friend owed me $5 & paid me just now with a roll of dimes.

naturally, I searched the roll on the spot.

saw it immediately, and even though it was cruddy I could tell it was not a clad coin:

a rather cruddy 1964, but still silver.

i hit my 499th post the other day, I noticed. I made up my mind on the spot: for my 500th post I was going to wait until I had something very cool to post, and as it turns out I didn't have to wait long for it.

i received this 2019-W washington quarter/idaho wilderness/river of no return in change from the winn-dixie at about 2am.

(edit: I think a cat hair got into the pic, that line thru the word DOLLAR isn't on the coin surface, it's not a scratch or something)

i didn't think i'd ever find one, nor one in such good shape, it's got a few nicks on each side, but not the amount of chatter you'd expect to see on a new circulated coin, but.. I have a thought about that.. as I was standing there at the check-out in the winn-dixie, and as the lady at the register was fishing my change out of it, I was looking at the money tray (as I am wont to do anywhere that there's money & coins) & I noticed the 'spread': all the spare rolls of change were shotgun rolls, looked all new, all the same, and each compartment of change was filled with what looked like all shiny new coins.. I mean, I didn't see even one old copper Lincoln, they were all new shiny copper-plated zincolns.. all the nickels looked new, same with dimes & quarters.. so, this W might've only travelled from the shotgun roll & into that tray. and then into my pocket.

lucky!! the dude in line in front of me could have just as easily scored that quarter instead of me.

and exactly timed for my 500th post!
