Got home an hour ago from Walmart, and was looking through my change when I found something really different, which I can't identify.

I have my World Coins book loaned out, and don't have a clue what I have.

So, not only is this "Interesting," but I would sure appreciate somebody identifying it. I would guess it's Scandinavian, but I don't know.

1977. One side has a crown, the letters CG, and the Roman Numeral XVI. Other side has 50 Sverige Ore.

Thanks for any help.

Wish I could post pictures.

Looks as though I'll have that capability in a month or two however.

Thanks anyway for responding to my question.

I think I found it for you. I think it's a 1977 50 Ore coin from Sweden. It's KM#855 composition copper-nickel. Krause lists the value at .15 in XF and .40 in uncirculated.

I'd call that one a genuine, certifiable "Road Kill" coin. Kinda cool though... wonder what happened to it?

Susanlynn9:

Thanks so much for looking that information up.

I thought the coin was Scandinavian, but no clue which country.

Again, thanks.

I found my first "Ocean in View" nickels today while bagging up the coin, and in the same can of nickels something that I'm pretty sure is Chinese turned up. It's copper colored, has a hole in the middle, it's bigger than a nickel but smaller than a quarter, and maybe has a rice plant on one side. I think I have other Chinese coins, but none this color. It jammed up the coin counter, so I had to disassemble the dang thing to get this coin out. [:0] I oughta be an expert at taking that thing apart by now... But at least the jams usually lead to a cool find!

It seems to me that I am the ONLY ONE who never finds anything in his change? If it wasn't for bad luck I would have no luck at all! Just wait until I win the lottery. Will I be a coin collector then? Yes, a RARE coin collector!

I also received a 1964-D Rosey in change at Walmart today !!

Terry do have a wally world where you live ? they are often the first in the area to get and disperse the new coins !!

My best find to date in circulation wasn't a coin, but paper money. I used to work for a food delivery place when I was in college. Someone gave me money for their food and as I was walking back to my car, I noticed that a $5 and a $1 didnt look right. The fiver turned out to be a 1953A silver certificate- the blue ink caught my eye. The $1 was even more intriguing. The backside looked completely normal and centered but the green ink was shifted on the front, resulting in an offset cut. I was completely surprised by the fact that I had two finds like that at the same time!

Metalman, Everyone has a Wally World don't they? The truth of the matter I don't find old Wally convenient any more and I don't like waiting in line at the check out. Just kills me to see 24 registers and only 3 check out lanes working. Guess those others are for XMAS only? Don't see much new change here. Once in a while a new Statehood Quarter will show up but NO new nickels this year. My wife managed to get a Buffalo nickel the other day but she doesn't have a clue where it came from. Most of the people I talk with around here don't realize we have had 4 new nickels in the last year and a half. Really amazing that we are in a good location, between Indy and Cincy and never see anything new?
