Interesting how much things are the same regardless of where you live!

We have a Wally World, even though our little community (western Colorado) has a population of only about 7,000. And, yep, we wait in line, always, because only two or three checkouts are open.

We do differ in that we have had some very good luck in finding coins in circulation after checkout. Latest was today. A new Ocean In View nickel.

I wrote the above post just a few hours ago, and by coincidence, have just returned from Wally World.

Wow! Bright and shiny new cents and dimes, and Ocean in View nickels.

Don't know what it is about Wally World, but we always seem to have something of interest regarding coins when we walk out.

We have here 2 new Super Wally's in the last 2 or 3 yrs. with another proposed. That shows the phenomenal growth of this area (for the worse, I think) But, I must say, checking out is pretty easy, lots of registers open and several self serve registers at each store. I didn't like these at first, but now try to use them exclusively. But, I haven't noticed any great finds in my change. Maybe I need to start looking at it! The self serve machines refuse my Kennedy half dollars though.

This week has been exceptional regarding my finding interesting coins!

Latest find was tonight as I spread out my coins on my desk. Thought I had an old dime, but not so...something better! Australian 1943 three pence.

Not certain where I received it, but I think probably at City Market food store.

My streak of luck continues.

I have found considerable foreign coins over the past several days.

The latest was discovered in my pocket tonight when I returned home from a Friday night high school football game.

Passes for a U.S. quarter. Dominican Republic 25 centavos. 1986.

Western Colorado has been flooded with Spanish folks in recent years, and maybe that's why so many coins from Mexico, Central American countries, and now the DR.

Rest in Peace

Now how did my threepence drop off of my desk and roll all the way to Colorado?

I sometime wonder just how much responsibility would go to things like "Coinstar" for all the new items being found in circulation.

Does anyone know how Coinstar processes their coins.?

Couple of good finds today- my first Kansas quarters (Terry, is that you I see sneaking up behind the buffalo? [:0]), the usual handful of common date wheaties, and a clip planchet nickel.

Hey Rachel, this is really amazing!

On 10-4 Rachel posted that she had found a Chinese coin. Guess what! I think I found exactly the same thing.

I guess it would fall under the category of "Interesting Find From Circulation." I stopped by my favorite little convenience store Monday night. The clerk knows me, and asked if I wanted a coin she had found in the till. I said "sure," and gave her a quarter for it.

So, what is it? Well, sounds like the same thing Rachel found on Oct. 4. Copper color. Smaller than a quarter. Hole in the middle. Plant on one side, maybe rice. Chinese inscriptions in a circle on the other side.

Just a coincidence? Or are these things being passed out around the country?

Anybody else with a similar find?

Mighty strange.

Ok, how weird is that? With all the thousands of coins I've seen in six years at the bank I've only ever found two Chinese coins, and you find the same one! If I could read Chinese we could compare dates. Now if you tell me in a few weeks that you found a clip planchet nickel, I'll be calling X-files or something! [:0]

Me again... Yesterday I found a coin from Zimbabwe, it's got a 1 on one side, I don't know what the currency from Zimbabwe is called. This is my second coin from Africa, the other is from Zambia.

Yes Kyra I am sure that is me. Just a speck sneaking up of that buffalo but am certain I didn't get a shot that day! Guess I will have to have a few slabbed with my signature? Could be on to something here?

Hey Gary you have another foreign coin headed your way! I know as I saw it in my crystal ball!
