The most interesting pocket change I've ever received was about 16 years ago. I swapped a dollar bill with the bartender at work for some quarters for the pay phone, and noticed that the quarters made a duller sound than usual when they fell into my palm. Lo and behold, they were silver quarters! I asked my brother, who worked there as well, to go get change for a buck, and he came back with 4 silver quarters too. We promptly asked to buy some rolls of quarters and left with a $10 roll of silver quarters each (all silver Washingtons). The manager was aware of the silver too and was willing to part with only a couple of rolls. I think he ended up with 2 rolls himself. I wonder how many silver quarters were circulated that day? I don't think I ever made that phone call either.

Another treasure find of mine, was 6 or 7 years ago, when I was cleaning out the garage of an old house I used to own. I had the vacuum cleaner and was sucking out any cobweb I could find, rafters and all. I was on a ladder where the roof meets the wall, and tucked back sitting on top of the wall was an old metal Band-aid can. I grabbed it and it was heavy! Inside was all silver! Franklin and Walking Liberty halves, Washington quarters, Roosevelt and Mercury dimes, and one Standing Liberty quarter. The latest date on any coin was 1958, and those late 50's coins looked like they were as new as the day they entered circulation. My guess is that they were stashed by some kid in the 50's, and weren't touched since. Face value of the coins was around $10. Some of those coins make up the nicest silver Washingtons and Franklins in my collection.

My sister-in-law got a 1934 $20 for change... she showed me and I traded her on the spot ~ boy I like the old money better than these new color jobs!

My paper boy didn't leave a newspaper this morning so I go to the store to get one out of the machine, I had no change so I went into the store to get some and ask for $5 in change and got these. It was all the silver she had.

I got a 1964 quarter last night! It's amazing how good that makes you feel when you find something like that.

I hadto go into work early tuesday, so I stopped for coffee, and got a 1$ star note serial number 00006769 in change.

This was strange find I found last night. I was cashing in 55 bucks worth of cents at my bank. I got two rolls of Ike dollars coins at the bank. One had 19 coins in roll and other had 20 in roll. I just bought since I not seen for years and paid 39 bucks for them and walked out. They rare to find big dollar coins compared to sacs or Susan dollars. I been looking for years for those big dollars and never find them besides ebay and never in banks.

I went church class and opened the rolls and found they were are bu/Au 1976 type 2 dollar coins. I was hoping for an 1977 for my book and found 39 coins of the same thing over on those 1976 coins. It was strange to find all 39 dollars were the same thing over and over.

I did give one to my teacher free of charge with an two dollar bill since it was his birthday that week. We even ate good that night since it food night at church. He was telling me he sold his coin collection years ago since he needed money. I felt like I was helping him get restarted on his coin collection. He was happy to get those for free like I did that night. Whatever is was fun giving away those things to him where he maybe get back into coins again. You never know he may start collecting coins again.

I did talk with bank teller later who sold them to me. He told me those Ike dollars came from lady who got them as tip from an man I guess he bought them in 1976 and never used them. I thought it was amazing they were never used and the man let them go to nice lady who I guess did not care or needed money and turned them in. I may never see that again solid date rolls of bu coins that are over 30 years old being turned in to banks. I still shaking my head and still cant believe it.
