is this a coming variety to books? 1983 far beads far 3, I searched through my 1983's today and found 2 of these, yet there's not much out there for info. Here is the link to where I saw it today.

The danger of drawing all those lines, off the dates, is that as the die ages, the devices (numbers) which are incuse on the dies, get progressively worn and minutely larger... I really don't see a difference that would have been the result of a change in the hub or master die.

I noticed the date of the thread started in 08 and the last entry May of 2014 but had no idea if these were going to go any where. I compared the near beads that I have with the far beads and none of the near beads has the far 3 on them. I wondered if this was due to die and difference of rotation in the engravement placements.

Yes there is not much information on the variety, but it is like the 1985 pointed 5, they might of changed it for the sets specifically.

IMO there is no near or far 3. It`s exactly as SPP described. All of this was started by a typo on an ICCS holder that was "far 3" instead of "far beads".

I have far 3's and close but no far 3 however on checking at 10 power on my digital blue I think some 8'are higher. Look at the bottom of the 8 compared to the bottom of 3.

Nothing there that can't be the result of die wear, hub wear, or hubbing process. No evidence of change to master die or hub.
