I bought a couple of very worn dateless Victorian large cents for fun, to play "guess the date on the large cent". I have my guesses, did I get them right?

Coin #1: can't tell too much, but 3rd digit looks like a 9... how is that any help? This has got to grade lower than AG-3. PO-1 large cent anyone?

My guess: 1891

Coin #2: date ends with 0 and has a nice obverse circulation cameo. No idea what this one grades but the obverse is much nicer than the reverse.

My guess: 1900H

My guess for the first is 1901 and for the second 1876H.

Looks like a 0 in hand. A 0 that's got the top half rubbed off.

DBM, where do you find closed C varieties?

Yeah, now that's looking more like the remnants of a 0.

I've played around a bit with the brightness and contrast and it does look like a worn-off 1.

Either way still a pre-1900s coin and definitely my oldest.

DBM, where do you find the variety listing for closed C?
