Sadly there's one little kid waiting for her soldier daddy to come home from Ottawa... but he won't be.
RIP Cpl. Nathan Cirillo.

I couldn't believe what I was seeing and hearing on the news yesterday !! A loss of 2 people in a couple of days is both sad and scary. It was something I'm used to seeing south of the border, and not in Canada. This affects the nation greatly. Just when you take safety in public places for granted. It really strikes at the nations heart! I feel for both families that had a member shot. I think Mondays was in Quebec.

Bruce MacKinnon's editorial image published today in the Halifax Chronicle Herald, pretty much summarized yesterday's tragedy here in Ottawa with a single, yet immensely powerful image. RIP Cpl. Nathan Cirillo

Definitely a powerful image, it would be great on a 40mm coin. The image would nicely compliment the new Toonie.

Quote: Do we know if it was Quebec separatists or I.S.I.S. or what not yet ? Harmonica, that's quite an insinuation about "Quebec separatists"... What is it based on exactly, any credible source? Putting them on the same level as I.S.I.S.? I've no intention hijacking this thread, but please be careful with what you say/write, especially in these sensitive times. These questions are way more complex. That said, my thoughts are also with with Nathan Cirillo's and Patrice Vincent's families. Sad, and shocking.

Let's keep these kinds of comments to ourselves lest this forum degenerates to the level of discussion seen on the numicanada site.

I also agree! A coin forum is no place for comments like this

According to the RCMP, it was a Canadian who have just converted to Islam and who wanted to go to Syria but the Government refused to issue him a passport. What we know is that he was not affiliated to any organization.
