Sorry, newbie question. I checked all of my ICCS holders and on all of them the font was different. This holder also have only 2-Letters in the certificate no. which is on the older holders so that's my guess. Since ICCS doesn't have it's own website I couldn't find anything online either Am I going mad?

Quote: sen d it back to ICCS and you will most likely get a better grade If the same people graded this coin once, why would they give a better grade the next time?

because you cut it out first before you send it as a new coin. done every day. they have no idea that they already graded it before! for them it is a new coin! you have to be sure your grade will go up or you are out the $$ one of mine once went up by 2 grades. from 50 to 58.

I recently sent in a George V coin in an old holder at MS64 and it made MS65. It more than doubled my sale price.

Anytime you slab crack or cut out you are taking a chance. Sometimes you win and just as often you lose. Can be a very profitable venture if you know how the particular grading company grades. The other real problem is GRADLATION, the standards can and do change depending on the coin market.

Of course there is a very good chance the coin will be regraded a different grade.
It could be regraded lower too.
Generally though, these 'old' holders are strictly graded and sometimes they do grade up.

"Grade Creep" is very much alive and well and seen in all aspects of coin grading in the last years. One company grades up..and everyone runs over there to prop up their valuations.. The others have to follow ,..or quickly go out of business.. Sad really..

@ Devlec .. yup especially the two big US services. That is a result of what OUR American cousins call MARKET Grading as opposed to the way the rest of the Coin World grades..............technical grading. One can make a lot of money playing the slab game. The keys are being able to grade yourself and knowing how the grading services grade on any given day of the week! In other words a grading "Mine Field"
