Obverse dot is not a dot---it is die pit which gets bigger as the die ages.Very very common on virtually all coins. The 1858 20 cent Vicky has a die pit on each and every coin because the master die had a pit.Look halfway between the A of REGINA and the spacer dot.

Nice find doctorman1941!
Do you just have the one coin like this?
lambecolin, can you please post some pictures of the dot on the 1858 20 cent.

one guy goes completely dotty over this stuff. Check out the highest prices on Canada coins on ebay to see . Very common die pit or gouge. Have about five of these laying around somewhere.

I started to look for them back last year as I think Zonad found one but did not post a scan so you could be correct about the pit or whatever.

If I remember correctly about the 1936 one cent it was not the dot variety. Hate to post the ones I lose on. Gamblers never tell their loses!

doctorman1941, sounds like this 1936 dot penny wasn't all that easy to find. Any idea how many coins you looked at before you found one? lambecolin, like the "moon satellites" reference, thanks for the picture. Have noticed that many dots on coins are not always perfect.

Dots are more subjected to PMD as they are sitting out exposed in the fields--the more perfect ones are protected by the rim . Check out some MS dot examples for better dot shapes

Can appreciate your logic lambecolin.
I have examined unc coins and found similar occurrences, which leads me to understand that not all differences found on coins can be explained away as being post mint damage.

Bellmaker I looked at a lot of 1936 cents and they are hard to find but they are still out there so go on the hunt and eventually you will find one.
