Well Jon myself I see a lot. First of all on the obverse I see what appears to be a gash or maybe some nasty toning. Would have to see that in hand. I also see what appears to be doubling on In God We Trust which is a good thing. I'm quite sure looking at the chin again that it is a mark or gouge on the chin instead of the toning. We also have toning at his hair line as well and bottom of the wig. Also it appears to have some scratches on the top of his head and maybe a gouge on the letter R. The obverse has some toning between the eagles legs but the rim of the quarter really looks strange to me. It almost for a lack of better words looks to me as if its warped somehow. Now that could be some type of error but I'm not sure exactly what it is or the cause. As far as condition I'm not sure what I would rate it. It is an interesting coin to say the least.

I think the blueing is either some toning or the lighting or a little of both. I don't see any major marks on the coin. I think it looks to be in the MS 64 or MS65 range to me. I think the lighting is causing all the issues that BadToTheBone sees.

The texture most visible on the obverse surfaces caught my eye. It seems to be uniform over the fields and the portrait. It sorta bugs me. With that texture so visible, I would expect to see flow lines.
Does anyone think it might have been whizzed? No? Maybe?

Genuine, AU, details.....cleaned. Too many hits on the obverse (with weird lighting for the pictures). Couple that with the multiple hits on the top edges of the eagle's wings.

I'm not convinced it has been cleaned or altered, but the photos do make it quite difficult to tell for sure. With that said I have quite a few Washington quarters with a very similar appearance on the obverse, what you are calling the texture. I don't think the minimal amount of hits would make it AU though. I still think it's an MS coin.
