I have been sitting on this one for a while and wanted to see what the CCF has to say about this half dollar in comparison to PCGS.

Thank you for your interest!

I'd guess AU Details - Cleaned. If it graded problem-free then it could have been netted as low as 45. It has AU+ meat with most of its luster and all its patina chemically removed.

I'll say it graded AU-50. Most of the luster seems to have been worn away with only a little bit remaining around the stars, lettering, portrait, and eagle. Unless darkly toned, I think the graders would be looking for a little more luster before giving it a higher grade.

I agree with AU details and most definitely cleaned. But, you see a lot of older 19th century stuff in "good" holders as market acceptable that look like that.

I think I am seeing traces of luster around the peripheries and a nice amount of detail remaining. I would grade it nice and AU50.
The reverse may have been cleaned at some point.
