I was browsing the most recent issue of CCN and noticed J&M had listed their ICCS graded maritimes coins. I wanted to see what their asking price was for a 1888 10 cent in VF30 and noticed they had listed a variety I wasn't familiar with, a repunched last 8, in VG8.

So off I went to dig through my box of ICCS and sure enough mine too has a repunched last 8. I went through about 5-6 Charlton's, some as early as the 52nd edition, but couldn't find any reference to this variety. All I've found is the link below, which includes a picture.

Right now I am just looking for some insight on this variety, has it ever been published, maybe a Zoell #, do you have one in your collection?

Thanks for checking SHAFT, but I'm starting to suspect they all have a repunched last 8. It doesn't explain why J&M only put this description on one coin but I think it was an oversight. Until someone can assure me they exist without the doubling I'm going to assume they all do.

Hi fed_ I have owned plenty of those 88's over the years and they all had the double 8 or 8/8 I just happen to have a pretty nice one listed if you want to have a look

Thanks for verifying that for me, I had a chance to look at a few more this weekend and all were doubled. Problem solved ;)
