The Canadian coin facts on this site does not indicate that these exist and neither does coinsandcanada.

Are there no p versions for these years?

I don't think so. Just checked the nickels and both the V and beaver reverses have a P on them.

I believe that the 2005 cad nickel is only found with a p and so goes for the 2002 one. Unless there is something I don't know about.

Does anyone know why they made a cupro-nickel one in 2006 then? I wonder why they would go back for only part of one years run. Maybe it was due to the logo change?

My guess would be to just use up left over planchet blanks?

I would think that is possible but one would think they would use them up in 2002, if that were the case.

Perhaps they tried to sell it to the US (seeing the planchets have the same composition), but they gave up trying after five years and decided that they're just going to use it. This was six years before ARP, but it might just be because they know they'll ARP them and get more seignorage from people keeping the cupronickel coins instead of remelting them and selling for scrap. A bit far-fetched but not unbelievable, as the Mint aims for profit.

By the way, I replied to your PM.
